Be a part of re:publica in Dublin!
Starting today, we would like to invite all those interested to create the program for the very first re:publica with us, taking place in Dublin on October 20, 2016. Our Call for Participation is divided into three deadline phases, the last of which ends on August 31, 2016.
What makes re:publica such a unique event is the active participation of participants, speakers and activists like you. And the most important part of compiling the program is our annual Call for Participation. For the Irish edition of re:publica, everyone interested now has the opportunity to submit exciting debates, ideas, talks, projects, discussion panels, art performances or workshops, and actively participate in the making of the program for Dublin. Imagination knows no limits, after all, and the openness and diversity of topics is one of the hallmarks of re:publica! As before, our topics range from work and education, health and mobility, to media, politics, science and business – all aspects of social life have their place at re:publica.
What we'd like to see
One main focus of the conference, as always, is on net politics: Current political developments are illuminated, debated and scrutinized by experts from the digital sphere. Other areas of policy, be it European politics (Hashtag #Brexit), or urban development and sustainability (e.g. water and housing issues in Dublin), are also relevant for our programme. Furthermore re:publica comprises a lively display of various aspects of digital society, such as pop and hacker culture, inclusion, hate speech on the Internet, the Maker movement, or Social Media Marketing: every exciting, remarkable or surprising net topic is welcome here.
re:publica aims to present the opportunities and benefits of new technologies in various areas of society, while simultaneously taking a critical look behind the scenes. There is more to it than just a display of the latest technological developments, it's about evaluating them in the long term and making suggestions for the future.
Deadlines
The Call for Participation for re:publica in Dublin has started as of now and is divided into three stages. That means the sooner you apply, the sooner you can expect feedback on your submission. Anyone proposing a topic within the next two weeks – until August 4 – will be in the first round right away. The second deadline is on August 17, 2016, and the third and final deadline on August 31, 2016.
